SCVFD HUSBAND AND WIFE TEAM COMPLETE BASIC FIREFIGHTER COURSE

   Darrell and Michele Morris, the recently-joined husband and wife team to the Sharps Chapel VFD, have completed the Basic Firefighter Class that was conducted by the Tennessee State Fire School at South Claiborne Volunteer Fire Department.
   Chief Upton said these two members are a great asset to the Department and he would like to congratulate them on a job well-done.
   The class concluded on May 15, 2008, after two months of off-and-on training.

FIREFIGHTERS TOUR NEW WATER PLANT FACILITY

   Firefighters from the Sharps Chapel Volunteer Fire Department took a tour of the new Water Plant facility last week, which is located in the Tanglewood area of Sharps Chapel near Norris Lake.
   The firefighters were shown how the water plant operates and where the chemicals are stored in the event of an emergency situation that could occur at the facility.
   Chief Chris Upton of Sharps Chapel VFD stated that he would like to thank Hallsdale Powell Utility District for their time and cooperation in presenting the tour of the facility to the fire department.  Upton said this will help each of the firefighters understand where the danger zones would be in the event of a fire or other emergency situation that may occur at the plant.  Upton said the tour was also very interesting and informative for everyone who attended.
   The Norris Water plant is now in operation and is being operated by Hallsdale Powell Utility District.  Chief Upton said that over 20 firefighters, mostly from Sharps Chapel, took the tour, which included a few from Paulette and Northeast Union VFDs.
