SCVFD Explorer Post Takes 2006 Adventure Trip
The Sharps Chapel VFD Explorer Post #510 (Junior firefighters) recently returned from their 2006 Adventure Trip. The group goes on a trip each year, and this year was another exciting journey!
The group stayed at New Smyrna Beach near Daytona Beach in Florida for this year's weeklong trip.

The first stop was at the Kennedy Space Center where they toured the Cape Canaveral Island and got to see the past, present, and hopeful future of Space Exploration.

They also stopped by the Astronaut Hall of Fame Museum.
The group went to Daytona USA another day and got to tour the Daytona Speedway, where they went to the NASCAR Museum and saw the history of racing.

On the way home, the group stopped off near St. Augustine and went on a guided tour of an old Spanish Fort located near the inlet of the Atlantic Ocean.
Of course, they couldn't go to Florida without enjoying some free time on the beach for some 'R & R'.
Everyone had a great time, and look forward to next year's trip to somewhere.
The unit will now be training for the upcoming Goodwill Challenge Competition held in Knoxville this August, where they will compete against other Explorer Units in the area.
