The Sharps Chapel Volunteer Fire Department conducted the 2007 Fire Prevention Program at Sharps Chapel Elementary School on Thursday, October 18, 2007.
The firefighters spoke with 140 students from Pre-K through 5th grade.
The Tennessee Division of Forestry came out again this year and assisted with the program. Smokey Bear was a big hit with the students, as they were all shown a film which starred Smokey himself.
All students were presented safety materials, fire hats, drinking cups and frisbies. Smokey gave out pencils and Smokey Friends wrist bands.
Students were also allowed to check out Engine 51 and Rescue 51.
Everyone had a great time.
Sharps Chapel VFD members in attendance were: Chief Chris Upton, Captain Mason Simpson, Darrell Morris, Donnie Patterson, Michelle Morris and Kristy Brantley.
State Forestry Members were: David Hall, Terry Wilkerson, Daniel Ramsey and Smokey the Bear.
